#Disciplinary action needed
The ongoing disobedience and insubordination of senior officials, including the Registrar and Security Officer, at Kerala University is a grave and unacceptable violation of institutional governance.
The Vice-Chancellor, as per university statutes, is the supreme academic and administrative authority entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining order, discipline, and smooth functioning of the university. Any defiance of lawful directives issued by the Vice-Chancellor is not just a personal act of insubordination but a direct affront to the very framework upon which the university's autonomy and integrity rest.
The Registrar, K.S. Anil Kumar, by refusing to comply with the Vice-Chancellor’s suspension orders, has acted in open rebellion against statutory norms and deserves to face disciplinary action as per university regulations. His actions set a dangerous precedent, eroding the hierarchical structure essential for effective academic governance.
Equally alarming is the reported non-compliance of the Security Officer, whose duty is to uphold law and order within the campus and protect the university’s administrative head. When security personnel themselves turn a blind eye to lawful authority and align with lawlessness or political interference, the institution is thrust into administrative paralysis and moral decay. Such conduct not only undermines the Vice-Chancellor’s role but also weakens public trust in the university’s functioning.
Immediate disciplinary proceedings must be initiated against all staff who have failed in their duty, and the Chancellor and higher education authorities must intervene to restore decorum, discipline, and lawful governance within Kerala University. No staff member, however senior, can be above the rules that govern the university.
