Era of coalition corruption

Photo: SHaRE KERALA gods own country

It is highly shocking to see that the Congress has embraced the crooked by giving support to Kanimozhi, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam, for Rajya Sabha elections. The Congress spokesperson says: nothing has been proven against Kanimozhi and going to jail in the 2G spectrum scam has not proved her guilty as Kanimozhi is just an accused in the case. This means going to jail is like going to a resort where one gets nutritious and balanced food and that too in time.  Then why A Raja was removed as the Telecom Minister by the UPA Government is yet another question to answer.

Avoiding morality is the habit of not only the Congress but also of the Opposition. The coalition party era is an era of coalition corruption. When the CBI is controlled by someone in the Central Cabinet all corrupt in the Parliament houses can avoid jail term by hook or crook. Antony Committee for election is aimed at uniting all shady political parties in the next Lok Sabha poll.

The economy has nose-dived. The rupee has hit a low of 57.54 against dollar. There were warnings from experts that if the trend continued, and the Government failed to take remedial actions, the rupee may fall further to the dollar.
It is true that our political parties are busy building funds. They take little time to talk about the deteriorating economic conditions. Many think that their party is a private limited company and are hesitant to answer even an RTI query. Would the Congress party and the Minister in charge of Economic Affairs own the responsibility for the present deplorable condition of the economy?
The prices of all essential commodities have sky-rocketed. The Government, which is capable of restricting prices and checking the buying power of the rupee, stands as a mute spectator.

".....checking the buying power of the rupee...." One having no clue could only be curious to know what it is meant to say ! Instead, - should not the white (black?)-collared economists at large, as is widely being advocated for, come out with truly feasible and pragmatic measures . A point crying for upfront poser is, - it is not so much its buying power but is the money circulation itself that should be checked. In the changed circumstances, it is not the party or ministry that is answerable; but who must be regarded to be answerable is every one of the empowered authorities, entrusted with the duties and responsibilities as a 'public servant' , directly responsible to implement and enforce what any ‘rule of law’ in its profound sense provides or mandates. Digressing for a while, for instance, in the income-tax regime, who must be questioned for eliciting an upright answer, is the assessing officer. being the authority at whose level respect for the law, through implementation /enforcement of any statutory provision, both in its letter and spirit, is expected to begin. What inevitably to be asked is, - in case of any failure on his part to do so, it it not he, any erring officer, who must be visited with appropriate personal action. For, immunity or protection from personal action could, after al be claimed only if has acted “in performance of his duties”- not if he has failed to so perform ! For an appreciation in proper light, anyone so minded may have to go through the material galore available on websites , on the prevailing tragic state of affairs - e.g. in the realm of 'TDS' regime. Thoughts intended to be shared with a view to provoking like-minded others to do likewise , for ideas aimed at betterment of the law and order scenario. (Unedited / not elaborated- leaving it for anyone truly interested to do so)

All efforts by the Finance Minister and the Reserve Bank of India to correct the sharp fall in the rupee has turned futile. The rupee has hit its all-time low. One kg of poor man’s fish, sardine, costs Rs 100. ( Business Line, June 26)
How will the poor sustain themselves? The rupee slipped the psychological resistance level of 60 against a dollar, due to high month-end demands for the US currency by importers.

The partially convertible rupee slumped to 60.63 against a dollar in Mumbai. It is felt that the Indian currency would weaken further and may hit the 61-level soon. If this trend continues, the prices of all essential commodities will shoot up.

The interesting point is that the share price’s of companies which produce consumer goods are at their lowest.

Rupee fall

All rhetoric by Finance Minister has gone ashtray. All effort by the Reserve Bank of India has gone futile. The rupee hit its all time low. One kg of poor man’s fish sardine costs Rs 100. How do the poor people in this country sustain?

The Indian rupee hit record low and slipped the psychological resistance level of 60 against a dollar, due to high month-end demands for the US currency by importers. The partially convertible rupee slumped to 60.63 against a dollar in Mumbai. And it is analysed that the Indian currency would weaken further and may hit the 61-level soon.

If this trend continues the price of all essential commodities will shoot up. The  interesting point is that the shares of the companies which produce consumer goods are at their bottom. The present Finance Minister Chidambaram is unfit to the post. He should be replaced by some other able person among Congress MPs. There will be no win in any election if the ruling Congress is incapable of checking rupee fall  and the elevation of commodity prices.

Dangerous road journey.

There was a kurtha-cladded minister in the last Achuthanandan Ministry who asked PWD engineers to count potholes on roads and put them in the web site. Though it was described as Thuglakkian Kerala model it was intended to illustrate the people the enthusiasm the minister had in filling up the potholes. The present minister Ibrahim Kunju is least interested in counting holes as it would reach nowhere.

The potholed roads in the entire State have made vehicle journey a tough task and even pedestrians find it very hard to walk near by the road.  Most roads have become a dreadful experience for motorists. The roads that were re-tarred just about one week ago are again in a deplorable state. With none to supervise the repair work crores of rupees are wasted on the roads. The advantage is for PWD contractors, doctors and the motor mechanics. The doctors are to attend innumerable accident cases and motor mechanics are busy with vehicle repair work.

The minister in charge PWD should give up his sleep and do something immediately to protect motorists from road accidents.

Help coastal people.

Photo: GOOD EVENING.....DEAR FRIENDS.....
The sea coast of Alappuzha district witness an unprecedented sea erosion and for the people living in that area life is of misery. With heavy rains and high tidal waves the existing sea walls are of little use and the area much affected is without sea walls.  As the coastal people are horrified the occasional visit of local MLA or minister are of no use to lessen their woe.  Even houses built under tsunami rehabilitation package are also under peril. With the sea demolishing the shore local people have no option other than to seek the aid of the government.

What the government has to do immediately is the protection of sea shore with stone walls. Hence the government should take action to supply stones to shore up the seawall and that too in a war footing basis.
Free ration and financial assistance should be immediately given to the affected people.

Uttarakhand tragedy

The army has done a marvellous job by evacuating thousands stranded in rain-hit Uttarakhand. The armymen are working on a war footing to evacuate pilgrims stranded in high altitude areas amid a warning of more rains. Rebuilding of the affected areas and the Kedarnath shrine is important but priority should be given to families that have lost breadwinners.

The Hindu dated 24 Jun 2013

Marvellous job by Army.

The Indian Army has done a marvellous job by evacuating about 70,000 people  in rain-hit Uttarakhand. They are also on a war footing to evacuate 22,000 pilgrims still stranded in high altitude areas amid a warning of rain in the region. Over 40 choppers and 10,000 Army and paramilitary personnel are engaged in the rescue operations following one of the worst calamities that hit the hill state. Disaster management authorities said the Kedarnath valley has been totally cleared of stranded pilgrims. They have been provided with enough food material and medicines. Let us pray to God that there should be no rain till all stranded pilgrims are rescued.

Rebuilding of affected area and the shrine is important but priority should be given to help those hapless people who lost someone probably a bread winner of the family. The country should take care of those who are left handicapped and homeless. The  Uttarkhand needs  help, hence other states are bound to act for the rebuild of the state.

Inappropriate circular

Photo

Community law should not over ride statutory provisions. The recent  circular issued by Local Administration Principal Secretary directing civic bodies to register marriages of Muslim men below 21 years and women below 18 years but over 16 years, is out of the ordinary. The circular was intended woo a section of the Muslim community and it was issued on the direction of a minister of the Muslim League.

This circular in another way persuade members of the other community to convert into Muslim  if they decide to marry at an age below 18. What the Kerala Government has done is an act to maintain child marriage in any community. It is against the provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. The government should immediately withdraw the circular.

New scare- TheTelegraph April 23

Photo: Cute...

The explosion in Bangalore is a reprehensible act of terrorism. The timing of the blasts was crucial as the elections are just a few days away. The blasts seem to have been designed to create fear in the minds of the people and highlight the ineptitude of the government in keeping citizens safe.

The Bangalore blasts must be dealt with seriously. Care should be taken to ensure that the heinous crime does not get downplayed. Politicians should not be allowed to get away with undermining the attack. If the situation is not taken seriously, terrorists might be emboldened to carry out more attacks.

For shame- The Telegraph daily May 20

Ordinary Indian citizens are now disillusioned with cricket because of the corrupt practices associated with it. It is a pity that the pace bowler, S. Sreesanth, along with Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila — all of whom played for the Rajasthan Royals in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League — has been arrested on charges of spot-fixing (“Sree Shame: Police see three players fixing IPL spots, board sees little but bolt from blue”, May 17). The new format of the gentleman’s game that the IPL is played in — commonly called Twenty20 — has ruined cricket, and has made players greedy and unscrupulous. IPL viewers feel cheated.

The spot-fixing scandal is shameful. The involvement of film stars in the IPL is unwarranted. The latter is less about cricket and more about entertainment in the form of cheerleaders, high-profile after-match parties, spot-fixing and good-looking women anchors who, unfortunately, know nothing about the game. The spirit of cricket has been spoiled by the presence of film stars, greedy cricketers, channel promoters, liquor barons and big corporate houses. It is high time people boycotted the IPL.

NSS too, to wash linen

Photo: Beautiful

With DCC secretary AA Shukkoor’s outright stand, the NSS  secretary was silent for while, but he has come out with added vigour to blame the CM and the UDF.  The NSS Secretary  finds this is the correct time to wash the linen in public. He attacked the CM  for his displeasure in inducting KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala into the Cabinet. This issue has put the UDF in a spot, according to him.

The communal outfits playing dirty politics is a curse to the state. It is the CM and the KPCC president to say that the congress was  not in deal with NSS.  More UDF leaders should come forward to put the Secretary to the place suited for him. What Chandrika daily had done, is a noble job.

Banana State of Kerala

Photo: have a rainy morning
Solar panel scamsters Saritha S Nair and her so-called husband Biju have hoodwinked not only ordinary people but big business men, police officers, politicians and the ministers. One wonders how these born criminals had accessibility to highly protected offices of the Chief Minister and other ministers. The whole incident indicates the pitiable state of the police surveillance system in the state. It is better for police to do some other job than doing the job of  protection of highly secured places.

Sonar panel scam was designed to siphon a huge sum in tune with Rs 100000 crore from state exchequer. All those who have made contract with Saritha were in a notion to book a good buck losing not much. So it is nobody’s concern when these greedy fraudsters lose money.

In Kerala thus, solar cam has  become a  fraud involving ministers, politicians, business men, cine-TV actors. The scam is a non-sense drama with scenes of sex  marriage, remarriage,  channel chat, abduction, absconding,  violence, jail term and what else. The ordinary men forgot all their miseries relating price rise, fever, sea erosion and others, making this State  a banana republic.

Telangana stage show.

The two MLAs belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti climbing  the Legislature Party building in Andhra Pradesh and threatening to jump off  if Telangana state was not created, is a drama.

Telangana is the most developed part of Andhra Pradesh and its separation is a big political agenda. In doing so it would only create high-political stage show and nothing else. The two MLAs need political mileage.  Actual problem in Telangana  is  with the politicians and not with the people. The politicians need to satisfy their  greed and hence  create problems.  They fool people with sentiments and emotions. The two MLAs are crafty guys and they never commit suicide. Can any administration be run by succumbing to such foolhardy threats?

In fact the two MLAs have given a new method of protest to their counter parts elsewhere in the country. And the MLAs  resorting to  such idiotic protests soon have to practice Spiderman’s job.

Poor buying power of Rupee.

Photo: Best cartoon ever

Agree?? then hit like

Indian Economy has nose-dived. Rupee hit lifetime low of 57.54 against dollar. There were warnings from experts that if the trend continued, and the Government failed to take remedial actions, rupee may fall further to dollar and may hit 60 in the near future. This is quite untoward in a  country ruled  by an economist with the assistance of several economic advisers.

It is true that our political parties are busy with their party work and spend time in building party funds and other fortunes. They take little time to talk about the deteriorating economical conditions in the country. Many party heads think that their party is a private limited company and are hesitant to answer even an RTI query.   Would the Congress party and the minister in charge of economic affairs own the responsibility for the present deplorable condition of Indian economy?

The prices of all essential commodities have sky-rocketed. One kg of branded rice costs Rs 50 in Kerala. Prices of vegetable and fish are exorbitant. The government, which is capable of restricting prices, stands as a mute spectator.  People lost faith in rupee and are unenthusiastic in investing in rupee. If not checked the buying power of rupee will soon touch the floor.

On desperate defence.

BCCI president N Srinivasan saying that the charges made against him and his family were part of a conspiracy by a north Indian lobby in the cricket body to malign south Indians, is a defense in despair.  It is not a secret that his son-in-law is involved in the criminal offense.

It is often the habit of criminals defending themselves with false arguments. For instance Azharauddin once said he was being targeted because he was a Muslim. Now Sreenivasan says he is being targeted because he is a Tamilian. In fact the players, film stars, politicians, channel heads and the BCCI had connections with bookies. It is unwise to bring the region and religion based politics to criminal acts. The comment by Srinivasan is cheap and silly.

Women celebs are more desperate.

Photo

The celebrity ending life is predominant in female because their life is one of more pressure, frustration and despair than men.

The alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Jiah Khan indicates the pressure and despair that come as a part woman glamour life. What starts with starry-eyed glitz ends up to hopelessness within a short span of time.  We could list down some of the celebrities who took the extreme step of ending life. It is a harsh truth that women in world of fame have to bear the stress of their profession and in addition of being a woman they have to meet the unjustified demands of men in the profession. Some can bear it but  others inopportunely feel so rundown and they chose to end their life.

CM should open his mouth on Nair’s allegation.

Photo: I like it ...May be you like it too just click and see ....http://goo.gl/vUhml

It was NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair’s complaint that his phone was being tapped by someone but seemingly Nair taps the phone of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Or else how Nair could say  said that the column that appeared in the League-backed daily Chandrika flaying him was with the blessing of the chief minister. Actually what Chandrika has written is some astounding facts and if any communal riot occurs in the State the sole person responsible for it is none other than Mr Nair.

And despite all abuses hurled by Nair upon him, Oommen Chandy remains tight lipped. It is high time for Chandy to come and give a fitting reply to Mr Nair as the latter is  constantly trying to damage the communal fabric in the State.

Restrict sea plane in sea

The introduction of the seaplane may be a big boost to the tourism sector of the state but it is detrimental to fishermen folk who earn their livelihood from Vembanadu  and  other lakes.

The Vembanadu lake has been shrunk of late by the encroachment of resorts and house boats. A recent fish survey by the Fisheries University revealed that the species of fish have been dwindled in the lake. The fishermen who depend on the lake find it difficult to get a catch. The coming of sea plane should definitely make the life of fishermen more miserable.

The growth of tourism sector should not be under the expense of the other sectors. So sea plane operation must be restricted in sea only and not in lakes.
