Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty’s attempt to exclude Union Minister and renowned actor Suresh Gopi from the State Athletic Meet reeks of political pettiness and insecurity. Sivankutty’s choice to use his official capacity to settle personal and political scores is unbecoming of a minister who should prioritize the state’s welfare over petty squabbles.

The State Athletic Meet should focus on celebrating sportsmanship and uniting people, not on political posturing and exclusion. His remarks seem more like a desperate attempt to grab headlines and avoid facing the real issues confronting the state’s education system. If anything, barring Suresh Gopi will only deepen the public’s discontent with Sivankutty’s leadership and expose his intolerance towards differing views.

Sivankutty’s hypocrisy is known for his aggressive behavior and lack of decorum, both inside and outside the Assembly. His recent posturing as a guardian of propriety is laughable.
