The recent raid conducted by Kerala police at a hotel in Palakkad, where Congress leader Shanimol Usman was staying, is a glaring example of the police overstepping their bounds under the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government. 

The fact that the raid was conducted at midnight, targeting a woman without the presence of a female constable, is a blatant violation of basic human rights and legal procedures. Such reckless actions reflect the failure of the state’s Home Department to uphold the dignity and safety of women, raising serious concerns about the misuse of power. 

This incident exposes the disturbing reality of police brutality and unchecked authority, which seems to have become the norm under this regime.The government, led by Pinarayi Vijayan, bears full responsibility for fostering a culture of impunity within the police force.

 The failure to notify the Election Commission before conducting such a controversial raid raises suspicions of politically motivated intimidation. It is unacceptable that in a democratic state like Kerala, citizens, especially women, are subjected to such violations of their privacy and security. The Home Department’s inability to control these rogue actions reflects poorly on the administration's commitment to law and order, further eroding public trust in its governance. 

It is high time the government is held accountable for this alarming rise in police overreach and its disregard for the rule of law.
