Mohanlal to sell khadi too.!

Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Karim understood rather fully well the meaning of what actor Innocent told media persons in a press meet last week. He said: Mohanlal sells goods and not Sukumar Azhikode. If Sukumar Azhiokode appears as advertiser for gold ornaments the women folk would return the ornaments, was the finding of Innocent. And that may the reason for Karim’s to plead Mohanlal to become the goodwill ambassador of khadi and handloom clothes in the State.

Of late, it is a wonderful item in news papers that ministers and celebrities who had never used khadi clothes appear as promoters of the same. If money spent for these superfluous advertisements is advantageously saved it could be used for supporting many people working in the khadi sector. The finding that our cultural heritage lies in Khadi is a non-sense because our heritage lies in ‘Paalathaar’. The crisis in many village sectors is imminent in the emerging world and treatment over skin like this would not save any.

The present ambassadorship with Mohanlal discounting khadi user Sukumar Azhikode would create a little hue and cry over wearing khadi or handloom. It is the choice of the people to use low-priced clothes when khadi costs high.
