Kerala govt backtracking from Bachchan invitation

Honestly talking, Amitabh Bachchan is not an apt celebrity to become Kerala Tourism Ambassador. As Kerala tourism is based on water bodies and boat race Bachchan has no role with them. Even Kalabhavan Moni is better suited than Bachchan as he knows how to swim and sing boat songs. By inviting Bachchan as Kerala Tourism Ambassador, the Tourism Minister Kodiyeri has made a stupid act. And it become more irrational as Kodiyeri developed a cold feet after initially inviting Bachchan to become the brand ambassador. Really it was a ‘petty act of cheap political convenience’.

It was a few weeks back; the Kerala government had invited Bachchan to be the brand ambassador for state tourism. Shortly after he accepted the offer, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury came out strongly against the move and the invitation was dropped. This humiliated Bachchan. Is Yechury the man to decide Kerala Tourism affairs?

This embarrassing situation could, however, be averted by further talks. The State govt. offer for the job with petty sum will not lure Bachchan. He, himself, has abandoned the job if the payment is less. The controversy now surfaced in CPM and the Government must have been warded off by a wise approach like this. However, the politically intolerant red brigades have no such patience to wait and see.
