Maoist abduction

Abduction of VIPs by Maoists in India is a problem of deep concern; however government is doing little to contain this. The Maoists recently have abducted Chhattisgarh district collector and demanded the release of their eight jailed associates and a halt on security forces' action against the rebels. Previous experience prompted Maoists to undertake the hideous act. A district collector abducted at gunpoint by rebels is a shocking incident and bolt in nation’s psyche.

And if the abducted person is a minister or MP, the situation will be quite different. In India politicians are the most valued people and their abduction is more serious than those bureaucrats. Why do the Maoists target bureaucrats when more demanding people are politicians?

Sukma district collector Alex Paul Menon( curious name like Mathew Pillai)  may be a Nair or a Christian  but no communal leaders, who often beat the bush,  are seen raising voice for the rescue of him. Whatever may be the alternatives the government is going to seek; it should not yield to the demands of Maoists.  Maoists are never going to save this country by their insurgency and it is highly awful on the part of them to torture a person who is in no way responsible for the plight of Maoists. It is highly cruel to torture a person suffering from asthma.
