The Next President- Repost

Not one alone, many online surveys say that Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam is the most suitable presidential candidate and he can give us something new as always. Thanks to UPA allies, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and the AIADMK to support the former President Dr Kalam for the presidential post. APJ Abdul Kalam has been the most educative, inspiring and productive President and is quite apolitical. He is the most popular person to replace Pratibha Patil.

 Born as son of a boatman he became India’s missile man with his hard work and finally reached Rashrarpati Bhavan. It was truly a stimulation for whole generation of the country. The picture of Kalam leaving the Rashtrapati Bhavan with only two suit-cases after playing his first inning as president of India is an inspiring one. He had malice to none when denied opportunity for a consecutive term in the Rashtrapti Bhavan.

 We must understand that nowhere in the world this top scientist has to go through unwanted. And with his versatile talent he could take India to high esteem. With Dr Kalam in the presidential chair every citizen of India feel that a caring family member or a true friend is in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Dr Kalam-the great inspirer!

The great inspirer  President  of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam is no more. He inspired not only the young but the elders too. He once told " if you write a page a day that would make a book of 365 pages in a year" That was very stimulating. He was a man of wisdom and breadth of imagination. He spread India's glory world over.

His humble beginning and achievements are good lessons to all those hailing from poor families. His sudden demise is a great loss for all, particularly for the scientific community. May his soul Rest in Peace.

The KSRTC employees in their old Kakki uniform appeared  to me stubborn that  they  often drink toddy. Now in the new blue attire they appear  fragile and drink only milk water. How is that?

And in this turn around drill my request to the Transport Minister is: Never deny their pension as many aged and ailing KSRTC pensioners are badly in need of money

Instant trouble

A district court in Bihar has directed the police to file an first information report against the film stars, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta, because they featured in Maggi advertisements. In India, government agencies do not conduct proper checks on the quality of food products. In this instance, the fault lies with the manufacturer and the approving authority. The role played by the celebrities is insignificant.

Bachchan has featured in the pulse polio campaign. Will he be held guilty if a child were to die as a result of faulty administering of the medicine? Several filmstars in South India also endorse products of substandard quality. Should they not be punished as well? The court order should serve as an eye-opener for greedy celebrities who promote consumer products of inferior quality. Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan are considered to be role models because they never hoodwink consumers by endorsing dubious brands.

CM's orderly

It seems that Kerala Rural Development Minister K C Joseph is the orderly of CM Oommen Chandy. When Chandy expresses his displeasure against a person like HC Judge soon minister Joseph appears before reporters with a more adverse reaction against the person the CM has targeted. For instance look at the FB remarks  of Joseph that Judge Alexander Thomas is a ' fox fallen in dye pit'. It is very bad on the part of a senior minister like Joseph to  talk with scant respect to a honorable judge of the HC. With his outright and foolish comments minister Joseph has stooped to the level of quotation gangster.
If 'shumbam' could invite a month imprisonment, what is in the store for  'fox'?

Stone Age Minister

Throwing chappals on to the Chief Minister of a State is obviously a crime and should be condemned. The experience in this direction by  the Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is a bolt on Kerala civic sense as the State boasts for higher education and better living. The more surprising part is the outright denial of the incident by Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala when people all over the globe have watched the incident online. All channels and newspapers have reported the incident in the affirmative . Obviously  a few of our ministers are still living in the stone age unaware of modern communication systems.

No advantage for Swami

1 No advantage for Swami

Corruption can be countermanded by corruption. BJP leaders charged for corruption countering Congress by raising corruption of Congress ministers in Kerala and elsewhere is interesting.  BJP leader Subramoniam Swami targeting Rahul Gandhi for a past incident occurred in the US is just for publicity and for distracting attention. Nevertheless Swami is unlikely to get any advantage as then PM A B Vajpayee who pleaded for Rahul with President Bush is now suffering from memory loss.

2 Foul playby Oil companies

Every day the PM of India asks all country men to give up subsidy for LPG as it would enable the government to help a lot of poor people with fresh gas connections. So soon, a trend would come up that those who avail gas subsidy will be called as disgusting creatures.

Nevertheless, the role played by oil companies in this direction is very dubious. If a customer,while booking a cylinder, by mistake press zero on his mobile he loses the subsidy for ever as the gas booking pattern is so cleverly adjusted to hoodwink the lesser people of India. The PM should directly interfere in this matter as the foul play is intended at the expense of the image of the government.

3 Liquor Reality

Re 'Liquid Reality' (NIE July 23). It seems that  the author of this letter often visits Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra and enjoy the local hospitality there. Here in Kerala it is not a joke that many families were ruined by the havoc of liquor. The high cost of liquor here is intended to distract people from liquor and thereby to save their family from despair. The data available in this direction shows that a large number of people have abandoned liquor consumption due to the effort taken by the government. The liquor sale has also  fallen. If the author  so particular about the plight of  drunkards he can take them to Andhra at his risk and show them the hospitality.

Cut subsidy to Malayalam cinema

Every day the PM of India asks all country men to give up subsidy for LPG as it would enable the government to help a lot of poor people with fresh gas connections. So soon, a trend would float up that those who avail gas subsidy will be called as disgusting creatures. Nevertheless, this sort of aversion to cinema subsidy will not occur very soon.

In Kerala all and sundry makes Malayalam cinema to avail the hefty sum as cinema subsidy. And in most cases the cinema thus made are non-senses intended to woo the teen agers. These cinema communicate no good messages. The film producers are not poor people and there is no need to assist them by providing government subsidies whether their movies are with English or Malayalam titles. The tax payers money should not be wasted as cinema subsidy as the present  breed of film producers show no commitment to the society.  .

So immediate action should be taken to stop all sort of subsidies to Malayalam cinema.

Decision by by Gouriamma

What is after all JSS in Kerala without Gouriamma? A faction of the JSS saying that the decision by Gowri Amma to rejoin CPM after a gap of 21 years was arrived solely by her, is ridiculous. Since its inception many JSS leaders have come and gone except its General Secretary K R Gouruamma. So the decision of Gouriamma is the decision of the JSS. The splinter leaders of the JSS can take their own decision but it is not binding to Gouriamma.

The advantage for Gouriamma and CPM with this merger is unknown. Gouriamma can take a sigh of relief for joining his original party and CPM leaders can console themselves for taking a humanitarian gesture to a genuine comrade. And that does not mean that the list of JSS leaders handed over by Gouramma to CPM would invite any attention.

Ensure minimum guarantee for roads

The reason for the pathetic state of the roads is not just the monsoon rains but the heavy traffic.  The private road repair contractors contribute much to the yearly deterioration of the roads. These contractors tend to leave major repairs to just before the monsoon. Consequently, the roads wash away during the monsoon because they haven't had time to set properly. This means that the companies will be able to gain new, lucrative contracts for the following year. So a minimum guarantee for five years should be stipulated from private agencies.

Outdated techniques are being used in road works in Kerala. The work force of Kerala NH section is less skilled and their machinery is out dated. Only 10-30 percent of the fund are utilised for actual road work and rest is in to pocket of authorities.

Road side encroachment by vendors necessitates frequent breaking of vehicles and should be checked as it brings added damage to the roads.

Gender equality?

Report from Alappuzha puts that  compared to men, women are the neglected lot. When a man undergoes vasectomy operation in a community health centre he is paid Rupees 1100 as incentive where as a woman gets only Rs 600 for a similar surgery. Does its mean that man is more hazardous than woman in the procreation process?

 Interestingly man need only one day rest after operation whereas woman needs complete rest for one week or more. So it is  imperative to enhance the incentive for woman seven times that of a man. And if any women outfit demands equality between man and woman then they should be paid equally. Remember that the government is not left with innumerable options to show its firmness in establishing gender equality.

Criminals inside

'Premam' cinema producers have glorified illegal acts such as smoking in public, drug abuse, mutual fight, humiliation of teachers and what else. The film is intended to woo teenagers who are most vulnerable to such prohibited acts. So it is an irony of fate for 'Premam' producers to bear the heat of illegal act of uploading the film online and that too by youngsters. 

The police should stop hunting innocents outside the premam circle as the real criminals are with in it.
