Ban on Gita

Highly ignorant are the people inSiberia or elsewhere seeking the ban of Bhagavad Gita. The move should be condemned. When Russia is a secular country where all religions enjoy equal respect it is awful to see some coming against the holy text, the great source of wisdom.

The Russian translation of the "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" written by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is unlikely to contain any passage hurting the sentiments of even revolutionaries.

Ad war over Mullaperiyar dam

Following the footsteps of Tamil Nadu, Kerala has issued newspaper advertisements appealing to the people of both states to maintain peace and restraint over the Mullaperiyar dam dispute. And next will be a reality show along with a stunt sequence pairing Vaiko and P J Joseph!

What was happened all these times is the war of words between the thoughtless leaders of both the states which destroyed peace and harmony among people. The people of the two states acted as they are from two different nations. There were incidences of attacking Tamil labourers working on Kerala plantations and devotees going to the Sabarimala temple. Keralite-owned business establishments were damaged and students from Kerala studying in professional colleges were forced to return. A few money lending institutions were compelled to close and others were looted.

Unless the local politicians do not keep restraint it is very difficult for people of TN to comprehend Kerala’s new motto “Water for Tamil Nadu, Safety for Kerala.

CPM for third political front

CPI (M) Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) would take an initiative to form a third front as an alternative to the anti-people Congress and the BJP-led coalitions in the country. He was apparently mentioning the move by the Centre to open up retail sector.

As there are no buyers for the third front it is better for them keep mum on such subjects and speak about Mullaperiyar or law and order situation. The news of the third front from the CPM is heard by one for a hundred plus one times till date but never materialised and this time also it would meet the same fate.

Kanyakumari for Kerala.

The Mullaperiyar dam issue and the related hue and cry in both states are the outcome of the thoughtless act of crafty politicians. What happened to all these agitations now? Kerla politicians have created in the minds of people in Kerala a disgust towards Jayalalithaa saying that she is the only leader responsible for dam peril. Some sensible writers like have also fallen into this rumour and that is why they also ridicule Amma.

If anyone in Kerala is annoyed with the demand for joining Idukki district with TN, a similar protest can be organised at Marthandom or elsewhere for joining Kanyakumari district with Kerala.

Reduce water level to 120 feet

The apex court observation that the two states, TN and Kerala, were adding fuel to the fire on Mullaperiyar dam issue instead of dousing it, is absolutely right. Other than the CMs of the two states it is minister P J Joseph of Kerala, and PMK Leader Vaiko are making hasty hue and cry over the issue. Presumably these two have vested interest in the issue. And they should be asked to shut mouth for some time.

It is true that the safety of the dilapidated dam has been a matter of concern for all the people of Kerala , nevertheless, instead finding a cordial solution the local leaders are making people panic. And it has grown to the extent of mutual attack on people of Kerala and TN. The TN Government can think of reducing water level to 120 feet until an affable resolution is evolved.

K M Mani’s ultimatum

Kerala Finance minister K M Mani’s ultimatum to decide on the Mullaperiyar issue within 10 days would end as a gun fire without shot. If his party colleague minister P J Joseph so decides to stop kissing the hands of clergies and start kissing them of Pinrayi, Mani has nothing to do other than to sit in opposition bench and read his famous motto ‘spilt and grow’. Kerala Congress party’s one man show at Mullaperiyar dam issue is ‘Piravom campaign’ and it would collapse just after the election. Joseph and Mani together with some MLAs on flab shedding exercise have made the ever gentle people of TN fuming. The losers are Malayalis working in TN. National parties taking different stands in Kerala and TN is they are not serious about the Piravom result.

Frankly speaking: Did Mani get any assurance as next CM if he betrays Congress and join with CPM? Chance to become the CM of the State rarely occurs.

Wish Azhikode speedy recovery

The sudden illness of the renowned writer-orator Dr Sukumar Azhikode saddens me a lot. The fierce fighter in him is needed for this country. Whoever may be his opponent, weather tall or short, new revelation often emerges from the brawl. I heart fully wish him a speedy recovery.

The trouble makers of Mullaperiyar

Who are the trouble makers of Mullaperiyar? Ask this question to a school kid. He will soon say the names of Minister P J Joseph of Kerala, and Vaiko of Tamil Nadu. Joseph counts 30 lakh at Thodupuzha, 40 lakhs at Thiruvananthapuram, 50 lakhs at Vandiperiyar and 70 lakhs at Delhi. These figures for him are the number lives lost if Mullaperiyar dam collapse. The seventy minus thirty equal to 40 lakhs lives lost in four districts of Kerala is simply an error in his calculation while estimating the catastrophe. This error mathematics alone shows the authenticity of his findings about Mullaperiyar dam.

At the same time Vaiko of TN counts 130 feet at Theni, 135feet at Dindugal, 142 feet at Madurai. What did he mean is: the height of water needed in the existing 116 year old fragile dam. He has no concern about the lives eighty-eight lakh people living in four districts of Kerala. To end the Mullaperiyar raging dispute a mutual exchange of these politicians can be considered by Kerala and TN. Or else the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should intervene to resolve the issue.  The height of dam water level should be lowered to 120 feet or to a safer level and ask the local politicians to stop all the hullaballoo.

Dress code of Keralaites.

G-one Ra-one Shahrukh Khan took on spell bound all the young Kochites on the occasion of the inauguration of Emmanuel silks, at Edappalli, Kochi. However the girls, both foreign and Indian, staged along with him for the show are seen dressed little. If this is the impending trend in dress code of Keralaites  the Emmanuel Silks would  close soon because of poor sale  or no sale.

Dam controversy continues

 Does Tamil Nadu not know the poor state the Mullaperiyar dam is in? If Kerala is not against supplying water to Tamil Nadu in future, why are Tamil politicians opposing the construction of a new dam? Political leaderships in both the states have failed miserably in settling the issue without drawing the people of Kerala out on the streets. It is not easy to construct a new dam to replace the old one that will start serving its purpose overnight. What is needed is to keep the water level of the existing dam as low as possible.
