#Ritual #Impropriety.
The act of Nanda Govindam Bhajans, who sang a Christian devotional song while performing a bhajan at the Vempinkulangara Sree Mahavishnu Temple in Kottayam, is ritual impropriety. Every place of worship has its own uniqueness, customs and codes of belief. Any art group should respect them and behave in a manner appropriate to that environment.
Singing a prayer song of another religion on the sacred platform of one religious sect is tantamount to ignoring the concepts of that place of worship and the feelings of the devotees, rather than being friendly towards other religions. If we consider the possible consequences of trying such methods in places of worship of other religions, we can see that this singing of songs in the temple premises is an unnecessary subordination and a violation of religious etiquette.
This group has made a huge mistake in preserving the originality of the art form of bhajan. It is foolish to think that religious harmony will be fostered here by such singing.
