Impunity in Kerala

#Impunity in #Kerala

The autocratic rule of CPM in Kerala is once again exposed by the issuance of an ordinance which allows the government to regulate the powers of Lok Ayukta. The decision to limit the power of the Lok Ayukta is a major shift in LDF government policy. The Lok Ayukta ordinance was not discussed up front.

In everything, be it K-Rail or Lok Ayukta, there is always something questionable. The CPI Secretary of State also doubts this line. The opposition is seemingly powerless to correct the corrupt practice of the ruling front.

Nobel Laureate Rigoberta MenchĂș once said: "Without strong watchdog institutions, impunity becomes the very foundation upon which systems of corruption are built. And if impunity is not demolished, all efforts to end corruption are in vain". By clipping the wings of Lok Ayukta, impunity becomes a bedrock in Kerala.
