V M Sudheeran
said that the new liquor policy decided by the UDF had been subverted by the
government. This statement is absolutely right. The deviation in the liquor
policy is shocking. The UDF government has backtracked from their earlier
stand. The interests of bar lobbies thus have been protected.
Sudheeran with
his ‘Janapaksha yatra' has made an impact in the society and made awareness
especially among women about the evils
of liquor. A wide section of people whole heartedly supported him. There was a
fall in road accidents, crimes and domestic violence but with the present
practical approach government toppled all his efforts. The stand of Oommen
Chandy and his faithful K Babu saying that
Kerala tourism sector was affected with partial liquor ban is not standing.
The Congress spokesman
M M Hassan saying that Sudheeran’s stand is sorrowful to Congress party, is unwarranted.
If Hassan is so sad he can make happy himself by taking 2-3 pegs from the
nearby bar.
