Who said All India Muslim League is not a secular political party? If anyone has doubt look at the comment by the central minister and leader of the Muslim league E Ahmed. He said he would not allow any Muslim to suffer in jail. His party’s secularism is very clear with the word ‘Muslim’ instead of ‘citizen’
‘Let bygones be bygones’ is a good motto. Forget and forgive the past. What Abdul Nazar Maudany said and done is a past story. He was in Coimbatore jail for about nine years and now about twenty eight months in Bangalore jail and that too without any trial. This is sufficiently a human rights violation case, nevertheless, more interesting is the interference of political parties in Maudani’s case. Maudani’ jail term is a subject of discussion among political parties during election time, however, now without any election in the offing all parties in Kerala took the matter intently and the most provoking comment is from E Ahmed. The word ’Muslim’ in his statement is highly confrontational and for this single reason he is unfit to stay as a member in the Central Cabinet.
And in Maudani’s case what former Kerala chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan said is acceptable. Maudani should get justice from the court and it is not the ruling UDF or the official faction of the CPM to decide Maudani’s fate. If there is any sluggishness in the proceedings of the court it is due the fault of all political parties which ruled India time to time.
