The Norwegian rule of punishing parents for
what is called an ill-treatment of their son is draconian. If reports can be believed
what the parents have done is a curative measure to save their child from future
trouble. Perhaps the Norway Government would look after the boy in the absence
of their parents; nevertheless this law is not suited to India where the
parents have the sole responsibility for the well-being of their child.
Children often make annoyance because of their age and it is the duty of their
parents, and not anyone else, to correct them.
The people should keep off work in tyrannical
countries like Norway if they are really interested in the welfare of their
sons and daughters. Norway is denying
the right of the child to get parental love by putting the parents in prison. No Government
in the world can make substitute arrangement for parental care.
