Fahad Fazil's irresponsible act

#Fahad Fazil's irresponsible act
Criticism of Fahad Fazil and his recent film ventures stems from ethical and societal concerns that have sparked significant controversy.

The decision to film scenes in sensitive locations like the casualty ward of Angamaly Taluk Hospital, causing disruptions to patient care, reflects a disregard for public welfare and raises questions about the ethical standards upheld during the shoot.

Additionally, the portrayal of themes in his films, such as the glamorization of liquor bars in 'Avesham', has drawn sharp criticism for potentially influencing impressionable audiences negatively. Such choices not only undermine social responsibility but also contribute to the erosion of cultural values.

Critics argue that Fahad Fazil and his team should prioritize responsible filmmaking that respects societal norms and safeguards public interests over sensationalism and controversy.

Flaws in the grading system

#Flaws in the Grading System
The current grading system used in SSLC and Plus 2 courses raises serious issues regarding student admissions and their future prospects. The shift from marks-based assessment to a grading system, while intended to be more holistic, has unfortunately created significant challenges. It is disheartening to witness students achieving top grades like A+ in SSLC but facing difficulties in securing admissions to higher secondary courses. This disparity suggests a disconnect between the grading system evaluation of students  and their actual opportunities in further education.

Assessing students solely based on marks and declaring their rank in examinations has traditionally been a reliable method to identify and reward academic excellence. This approach provides clarity and transparency in evaluating students' performance. It ensuries that deserving candidates are recognized and appropriately placed in higher education institutions.

The recent admission issues in Malabar region serve as a stark example of the repercussions of an ill-considered grading system, where meritocracy seems compromised due to the lack of clear distinctions among students' achievements.

It is imperative that educational authorities revisit the current grading system efficacy and consider reinstating a marks-based assessment to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all students. The future of our education system and the aspirations of countless students depend on such reforms.

Renaming Kerala to Keralam

#Renaming Kerala to Keralam
The recent resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly, urging the Centre to rename the state as "Keralam" in all official records, raises pertinent questions about identity and cultural representation. While the move may seem symbolic to some, it holds deeper significance for the people of Kerala.

The proposal, put forward by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and supported unanimously across party lines, underscores a desire to reclaim and reaffirm the state's historical and cultural roots. However, the practical implications of such a change, especially in constitutional records, remain uncertain and may face bureaucratic challenges. It's crucial for stakeholders to discuss not only the symbolic value but also the logistical feasibility of implementing such a change at  national level and world over

In essence, while the renaming initiative carries cultural weight, its implementation and reception at the federal level remain to be seen. The debate should pivot towards understanding the tangible benefits and challenges associated with this proposal, ensuring that any decision made reflects the collective will and best interests of the people of Kerala.

Online fraud

#Online fraud.
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the alarming rise of cybercrime, particularly online money fraud, in our country. Recent incidents, such as the fake advertisement on Facebook impersonating Reliance Jio, where unsuspecting individuals were deceived into sending money for non-existent services.

This  highlights the urgent need for more effective measures to combat such crimes. The lack of a robust mechanism to address these issues exacerbates the situation, leaving victims without adequate recourse.

Furthermore, the cumbersome process of lodging complaints with cyber police adds to the distress of affected individuals. The insistence on using a specific complaint form, accessible only through a convoluted website interface, creates unnecessary barriers for victims seeking justice. It is disheartening to hear accounts of individuals spending hours attempting to file complaints, only to face further frustration and disappointment.

As a community, we must demand streamlined procedures and greater accessibility to ensure that victims of cyber fraud receive the support and action they deserve.

Needed immediate measures

Needed immediate measures
The withholding of ₹42,000 crore in arrears owed to government employees, teachers, and pensioners reflects a significant failure in Kerala governance. Such delays not only puts financial hardships for individuals but also undermine public trust in the government's ability to fulfill its obligations.

Finance Minister Balagopal's response, attributing the withholding of benefits to a financial crisis underscores deeper systemic issues. The allegation of poor tax collection mechanisms and corruption within government ranks further compounds the situation. It suggests  a severe lack of fiscal discipline and accountability.

Failure to swiftly resolve these issues could deepen economic distress and erode public confidence, necessitating a reassessment of leadership responsibilities in fulfilling the state's obligations to its citizens. In light of these revelations, the Kerala government faces an urgent imperative to implement immediate corrective measures.

Kelu Minister

#Kelu's ministerial role.
The recent proposal for appointment of O R Kelu as a minister in the LDF government marks a significant step forward for Wayanad. Kelu's dual role as a seasoned CPM State Committee member and a dedicated farmer reflects a rare blend of political acumen and grassroots commitment. His deep connection to agriculture underscores his grounded approach despite his elevated political stature.

While Kelu faces the challenge of inheriting the portfolio of former minister K Radhakrishnan, known for his exemplary performance in the Kerala Cabinet, his selection brings hope and continuity for the region. This appointment not only highlights Kelu's capabilities but also signals a promising phase for Wayanad's development under his leadership.

However, Kelu's ministerial role will not affect  electoral prospects of Priyanka Gandhi. from Wyanadu.

Disturbing pattern

#Disturbing pattern.
The recurring bomb blast incidents in Kannur, exemplified by the recent tragic death of an elderly man while collecting coconuts, underscore a disturbing pattern of violence and insecurity in the region.

The failure of the State government to effectively curb these incidents aises serious questions about law enforcement. Such incidents not only threaten innocent lives but also erode trust in local authorities' ability to maintain public safety.

The call for intervention from the central government suggests a lack of confidence in state-level efforts to address the root causes. Urgent and coordinated action is needed to prevent further loss of life and restore peace in Kannur.

NCERT's text book alterations.

#NCERT's Textbook Alterations
There is now a controversy surrounding NCERT's decision to alter references to the Babri Masjid demolition in school textbooks. Minister M B Rajesh's critique of NCERT's stance highlights a significant issue of governmental overreach. Rajesh has little right to speak about educational matters. Alteration of textbooks falls under the purview of the Education Department led by Minister V. Sivankutty. This raises questions about jurisdictional boundaries within Kerala's government.

The tendency of Kerala ministers to encroach upon each other's departments, exemplified by Minister Riyas and now Minister Rajesh. It is alarming and disruptive to effective governance. Instead of engaging in such interdepartmental friction, Kerala should consider its own prerogative to publish textbooks, ensuring they reflect the state's cultural and historical perspectives independently of NCERT's directives. This would preserve the state's autonomy in educational matters. It would foster a more cohesive and informed curriculum for Kerala's students.

Commendable action

#Commendable action
This is to express my deep concern regarding the rampant malpractices observed in the operations of matrimonial websites, as highlighted by the recent ruling of the Ernakulam District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

The case where a young man was promised a wedding match but was left uncompensated after paying a fee is indeed alarming. The imposition of a fine amounting to Rs. 28,000 on the matrimony website for misleading claims underscores a widespread issue affecting countless consumers.

It is disheartening that such platforms, often affiliated with national dailies, continue to exploit public trust despite charging substantial fees. The lack of effective government oversight and the complexities of legal recourse often leave victims without adequate redressal.

The proactive stance taken by the Ernakulam consumer forum is commendable and signals a step in the right direction towards ensuring accountability and transparency in the functioning of these services.

Commendable Stance

#Commendable stance
I applaud the recent decision by Kerala University's Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal, to deny permission for a stage show featuring Bollywood porn star Sunny Leone at the University College of Engineering in the Karyavattom Campus. It's a commendable stance, reaffirming that educational institutions are not platforms for such content.

However, the vigilance should extend beyond administrative action; the Registrar's prompt communication with the police is crucial to ensure the enforcement of this decision and to maintain the integrity of our educational spaces. It's imperative that we uphold the values of academia and foster environments conducive to learning and growth.

Surendran mistaken

#Surendran mistaken
Srejith Panickar's role in bolstering BJP's presence in Kerala cannot be overstated. Through his insightful debates and strategic social media presence, he has effectively articulated the party's message to the masses, helping sway public opinion in favor of the BJP. His ability to engage with diverse audiences and communicate complex political ideas in a clear and accessible manner has undoubtedly contributed to the party's growing popularity in the state.

Moreover, branding Panickar as a "liar" by Kerala BJP chief K Surendran is not only unwarranted but also reflects poorly on the leadership within the party. Such personal attacks distract from the real issues at hand and undermine the constructive contributions of individuals like Panickar. Instead of resorting to name-calling, BJP leaders should recognize and appreciate the efforts of figures like Panickar, who are instrumental in expanding the party's reach and influence in regions where it traditionally struggled to gain traction.

K Surendran's questionable associations and alleged involvement in clandestine dealings with the incumbent Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, not only undermine the integrity of the BJP in the state but also betray the trust of the electorate. His failure to maintain transparency and uphold ethical standards erodes public confidence in the party's leadership. Given the looming elections, the BJP must prioritize the appointment of a new, competent leader who can inspire trust, integrity, and credibility among the voters. Failure to do so risks further alienating the electorate and jeopardizing the party's prospects in Kerala.

Man with a Heart.

#Man with a heart.
Suresh Gopi's journey as a Malayalam cine actor is not just marked by his captivating performances on screen, but also by his profound generosity and compassion off-screen. His selfless acts of financial and moral support, devoid of any consideration for caste or creed, exemplify his noble character and empathetic nature.

Suresh Gopi's commitment to serving humanity transcends the boundaries of his profession, earning him admiration and respect from people across Kerala. His transition from the silver screen to the realm of politics reflects his unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on society, embodying the true essence of a man with a heart.

As Suresh Gopi assumes the role of Union Minister, the people of Kerala rejoice in knowing that a leader of his caliber now represents their interests at the highest echelons of government. His decisive actions and unwavering resolve to address the pressing issues facing the nation instill hope and confidence among citizens.

While some may speculate about the challenges of balancing his political responsibilities with his acting career, Suresh Gopi's steadfast commitment to public service reassures us that he will leverage his influence and resources to uplift communities and foster inclusive growth. With his tenure as minister, Suresh Gopi has the opportunity to leave an indelible mark on the socio-political landscape of India, setting a precedent for future leaders to emulate.

Deep trouble

#Deep trouble.
This is to express my deep concern regarding the alarming influence of the Malayalam film "Avesham" on the impressionable minds of our youth. It is distressing to witness how certain scenes from the film have not only been emulated but glorified by individuals, leading to reckless and dangerous behavior in our society. The recent incidents of youths and goons replicating vulgar and violent acts portrayed in the film, such as cutting cake with swords and disregarding traffic rules, are deeply troubling.

The irresponsibility of the regional censor board in allowing such content to be released to the public cannot be overlooked. Questions must be raised about how a film depicting such explicit and potentially harmful content was given the green light for distribution. It is imperative that the censor board be held accountable for their oversight and that measures be taken to ensure stricter scrutiny of films before their release. Failure to address this issue not only tarnishes the reputation of our state but also poses a significant threat to the well-being and safety of our citizens.

Gender inequality

Gender Equality in Kerala Politics.

The recent election results in Kerala have once again highlighted a distressing reality. Not a single woman has secured a seat in the 20 MP seats allocated to the state. This glaring absence of female representation is not just a setback for gender equality; it's a stark reminder of the entrenched biases that persist in our political landscape.

How can we claim progress towards empowerment when half of our population is systematically excluded from decision-making roles? It's time to address this apathy towards women in politics and strive for true equality and inclusivity in our democratic processes.

Exit poll farce

#Exit poll farce
The recent predictions of the 2024 India elections have left many scratching their heads and questioning the credibility of exit polls.

With the BJP projected to win a landslide victory with 390 seats and the INDI alliance expected to secure around 290 seats, the math simply doesn't add up when the total number of seats exceeds the capacity of the Lok Sabha by 140. This glaring discrepancy calls into question the accuracy and reliability of such forecasts. This leave us to wonder if watching these predictions unfold on TV is indeed a pastime better suited for the jobless.

It's high time we demand more transparency and accountability in the electoral process to ensure that the voice of the people is accurately reflected without the theatrics of exaggerated predictions.
