The Government of Kerala had once a department called Kerala Water and Waste Water Authority. Due to bad connotation in the term ‘waste water’, the authority has been re-christened as Kerala Water Authority. Likewise it is time for the Kerala Crime (Investigation) Branch to change its name otherwise people will call it as crime committing branch or rather crime quotation branch.
The story relating the arrest of Crime Branch DySP N Abdul Rasheed by CBI in connection with the attack case against Mathrubhumi Kollam reporter VB Unnithan demands a change of name in that direction. Not only Rasheed another crime branch DySP Santhosh Nair is also involved in the case.
It is learnt that the attack on the reporter was carried out for his reports on the unholy nexus between Crime Branch police officials including Rasheed and Santhosh Nair and goonda teams in Kollam. More interesting is: Rasheed is the president of the Police Officers’ Association.
