The waste of man-hours in Kerala Yatras before elections has been a longstanding concern, with political parties organizing large-scale rallies and processions that disrupt normal daily activities and cause significant productivity losses. These Yatras, or political marches, often involve thousands of participants leading to a substantial drain on resources and time.
The proliferation of Yatras also raises questions about their effectiveness in influencing voter decisions. Moreover, the environmental impact of these events, including traffic congestion and waste generation, further compounds the negative consequences of such mass mobilizations.
As Kerala grapples with the need for more efficient and sustainable election campaigning methods, there is a growing call for parties to explore alternatives other than Yatras that minimize loss and disruptions
