Seemingly the only major problem the UDF Government now faces in Kerala is the issue of allotting temporary licences to 418 bars in the state that were closed three weeks ago. Congress leaders like Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC vice president V.D. Satheesan and Excise Minister K. Babu who speak mouthful against anti-liquor policy, standing together opposing V M Sudheeran, is amazing.
It is known that the Minister K Babu always speaks in favour of Abkaris and his opinion in this direction is one sided. At present without 418 bars all the boozers get sufficient liquor and there is no decrease in State revenue by way of selling liquor. Then why this haste from others including Chief Minister in settling the issue? So in that context Sudheeran's stand that no bar licences should be renewed unless required standard is met, is correct.
