The sky will not fall if
boozers of Kerala wait for some more time infront of Beverages outlets for
their share. The K P C C President V M Sudheeran may be congratulated for his
firm stand on the issue of liquor bar licences. It is not the SNDP, KCBC or the
Muslim outfits to decide the Kerala liquor policy. The Yogam secretary’s
comment that it is not the ministers but the KPCC president runs the government
is a good compliment to Sudheeran, nevertheless, it demands no reply
.
KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran
insisting on a policy that would reduce the number of liquor bars is in
accordance with Congress party’s proclaimed policy of abstinence. Then why the
Excise Minister and others think in a different line to give opportunity to bar
owners to improve their standards within a stipulated time. What is after all
the standard of a bar? Does it mean that in bar of high standard a boozer get
it straightly to his mouth and not through glass?
