Chennithala’s ‘thara ‘formula.
After Lagrange’s interpolation formula one of the well known formulae is Chennithala formula for granting licence to 67 bars out of 418 bars which were denied licence by the honourable HC. Chennithala put up the formula that among the 418 bars, 67 bars come under the category of two star hotels and should be given the licence to open and a district collector led committee should inspect the quality of the other bars and those found wanting in facilities should be given a reasonable time frame to get things in order. This in effect is overriding the court verdict and it will pressurise district collectors in taking decisions.
So in this regard KPCC President V.M Sudheeran’s stand that he could not agree with the formula mooted by Chennithala is bold and is in favour of the wishes of common people of the state. The UDF is on the way for a consensus and it should be for not opening these bars. The Chennithala formula is a ‘thara’ formula and this formula together with other similar formulae should be outrightly rejected.
Any action to help people to stand on two legs rather than on four legs is good for the entire people of the state.
