Rice issue ended in disgrace.
Rice politics in Kerala has ended in disgrace for the ruling LDF. In a setback to the Government, the Supreme Court upheld the Election Commission's order directing the state government to defer its decision to extend the scheme for providing rice at Rs.2 per kg to all ration card holders that was announced on the eve of the assembly elections. The Apex court wondered why the scheme was extended just before the April 13 election to the state assembly. Truly the court was sharing the feelings of unbiased people in the state. And the LDF Government escaped from future litigation on breach of the Model Code of Conduct.
Rice is not the sole requirement of common people in Kerala. They need good shelter, clothing, and proper education for their children. When all except rice cost much what is the fun in supplying rice alone at low price and that too in the eve of election.
