The Women’s Reservation Bill has received awe-inspiring response from people all over the country. But it was not possible without the support extended to the Government by the BJP and the Left. The implication is that they can again unite in future on key issues. All women leaders and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh deserve credit for the passage of the Bill through the Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, it is sad to see Ms Mamata Banerjee, a member of the ruling coalition, opposing the Bill. She must reconsider her stance.
