#Erosion of trust
The dismal voter turnout in the Wayanad bypoll, despite the presence of high-profile candidates like Priyanka Gandhi, is a damning indictment of the ruling politicians in Kerala. It reflects the growing disillusionment of citizens who are fed up with the neglect and apathy shown by those in power.
For far too long, politicians in Kerala have failed to address the pressing needs of the people, instead prioritizing their personal and party interests over genuine governance. The lack of basic amenities, poor infrastructure, and inadequate responses to crises have alienated voters. They feel ignored and abandoned by those who are supposed to serve them.
The ruling politicians must be held accountable for this erosion of trust, as their nonchalant approach continues to erode democracy and push people away from participating in the political process.
