Accepting defeat

While most of the top Congress leaders abstain from election contest by fear of possible failure Congress leader and Union defence minister A K Antony is in a jovial mood by hinting at the possibility of the formation of a fresh secular front with Left comrades to keep BJP out of power. This is of course an evil design by Antony’s party to stay in power.

If Congress leaders are true to their secular credentials then they should stop the communal appeasement as practised in Kerala. And if they need Left shoulder at the Centre they should avoid direct fight with the Lefts.  When Antony says that Congress's main rival in Kerala CPM will have to abandon its opposition to Congress to stave off the risk of BJP retaking the Centre, Congress can also do the same with CPM. This would result an easy walkover for them in an equal basis in the election. The time and money saved in this way will be much.

By Antony’s statement the Congress party has accepted their miserable defeat. They are now trying to woo smaller regional parties to stop Modi ‘tsunami’. The policy to regain the power by any means is a wrong one from puritan Antony. He is obsessed with the comfort of Defence Minister’s office and wishes for another term for an unbreakable record.  Making agreements with everyone to reign in power is a misguided move which will make Congress party soon a regional one.
