Killing hundreds of Indian darter birds, which had
nestled in a tree in front of the Alappuzha south police station by the
municipal workers, is a brutal act. They chopped branches of the tree and tiny chicks
were thrown out from the nests and killed.
The social forest department’s complaint to the
police to take action against the workers, who cut the tree and killed the
birds, is of no use. The municipal authority which issued orders to cut the
tree is a conglomeration of heartless thugs.
The act of showing cruelty a to birds, animals and trees is
akin to being cruel to our own kin. The municipal authorities deserve no
pardon.
