The sea coast of Alappuzha district witness an unprecedented
sea erosion and for the people living in that area life is of misery. With heavy
rains and high tidal waves the existing sea walls are of little use and the area
much affected is without sea walls. As
the coastal people are horrified the occasional visit of local MLA or minister
are of no use to lessen their woe. Even
houses built under tsunami rehabilitation package are also under peril. With
the sea demolishing the shore local people have no option other than to seek
the aid of the government.
What the government has to do immediately is the protection
of sea shore with stone walls. Hence the government should take action to supply
stones to shore up the seawall and that too in a war footing basis.
Free ration and financial assistance should be immediately
given to the affected people.
