Marketing temples and worship places using film actors has become a recent development. Latest in this direction is the visit of actor Mallika Sherawat at Mannarasala temple and it attracted much media coverage. She dons the role of a snake-woman in the forthcoming film ‘Hisss’. The Sree Nagaraja Temple at Mannarasala received a face lift with Sherawat’s visit and it is the responsibility of Mannarasala deity Nagaraja to make the film a box-office hit!.
Whether it is Chakalathukaavu, or Kandamangalm shrine, the temple committees arrange Naaripooja(women worship) with film actresses and look for a fortune. And this trend is likely to progress in future.
