The ‘Raja of Manda’, the former Prime Minister of India Vishawnath Partap Singh is no more. Though the upper class reviled him for his introduction of the Mandal Commission he lives in the hearts of millions of poor Indians. He was responsible for changing the political setting of India by implementing the Mandal Commission report, which provided for reservations to a huge section of Indian population. For being spearheaded the cause of social justice he would be remembered for his efforts for uplift of the poor and downtrodden. The nation has lost a great leader.
The Bihar government has declared a public holiday on November 29 when the ex-PM was cremated, but no other Indian states or the Central Government. Is it the usual way of observing funeral function of all ex-PMs?
