It is ridiculous that former Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac has come out in support of Reporter Channel and Anto Augustine. The people will not accept the move to politicize the natural legal proceedings of the government and the GST department.
When an investigation is underway against an institution facing serious allegations including financial fraud worth crores and money laundering abroad, it is highly condemnable to label it as illegal.
Thomas Isaac is looking for a way out of the party due to recent political interference. In such a situation, channel coverage and media attention have become essential. Isaac knows that if he supports Reporter Channel now, his head and full figure will appear on their TV screens. That is the reason for taking such wrong stands.
It is the primary duty of the government to bring those who are involved in major financial irregularities and liquor trade to justice under the guise of journalism. The state government and the investigative agencies are commendable for their decision to bring financial crimes to light through honest and transparent investigations.
The government is sending a strong message that the law is the same for everyone and that even big media houses or individuals cannot escape punishment for financial irregularities.
