Meena Kandasamy’s touch.

Photo: mazhayude munnorukam....

Meena Kandasamy, the Tamil poet has insulted the Father of the Nation, and hence  the Nation with her highly repulsive writing about Mahatma Gandhi.  The absence of poet Sugathakumari, who was supposed to release the translation of Kandasamy’s  book, ‘Touch’(Sparsham) was in the right direction.  Calling the Father of the Nation as a sanyasi  like fake  guru “Nityananda “ is highly deplorable.  If these words are from a person outside this country it would have turned into a topic of harsh contention. It is better for Kandasamy to read the poem in isolation and not before  those who believe Mahatma as an idol for worship.

Writers often seek quick fame by their obnoxious writings and Ms Kandadamy is no exception. This time  her subject for insult is Mahatma Gandhi  and next time it would be Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. The consequence in that case would be more reprehensive.

The Kerala University Union often arranges stage for ridiculing the revered. And that is why they invited this poet to deliver an utter non-sense speak. The ‘thinkers’ like KEN  Kunhahammed  have no problem for insulting Mahatma and they often  get moved only when Pinarayi is ridiculed by someone.

The place suited for Kandasamy’s ill speak is TN and not Kerala.

Talk less, work more

The Kerala government’s motive behind asking its employees to restrict personal calls at work must have been noble. But one fears that this measure would not bear much fruit. Many such well-meaning directives have been issued in the past by various state governments to their employees. But most of these instructions are ignored. In this case too it is likely that very few government employees would take this order seriously and end their private conversations during office hours.

It is true that the extensive use of cellphones at work creates a major distraction for the employees and causes utmost inconvenience to people visiting government offices to avail themselves of some service. But no order from the authorities would be able to solve this problem unless there is a change in the attitude of the employees towards their job. If this change can be brought about, it is possible that they will voluntarily switch off their mobile phones while on duty.
Yours faithfully,

Pranab’s FM show was dismal

Whereas the best suited person for presidential post Dr APJ Abdul Kalam stands outside un-applauded by crafty politicians it is Pranab Kumar Mukerji walking into Raisena Hills. Pranab as next President  is the choice of politicians and not of majority people in the country.   Pranab as FM has done many mistakes and the present deplorable economic condition of the country is the outcome of his thoughtless acts.

As FM he always promoted unjust price rise and colluded with oil companies to elevate petrol price knowing that any hike in petrol price would directly affect the price of essential commodities. Rupee lost its value against dollar and most of the development was eaten up by the price rise. This in turn resulted   rise in salary of the employed. The life of poor and unemployed became very difficult and even price of generic medicines shot up.  Raw material and labour cost went high and life of many without much  income became very miserable. The stock market nose-dived  and those average investors deposited in stocks by believing the hollow words of the FM burnt their fingers. As FM, Pranab is responsible for the present suffering  of the poor because  high inflation and high price of essential commodities made their life miserable..

No doubt, Pranab as FM  has done much damage to the Indian Economy.

KAS Life Blog: Exemption of tax for ‘Spirit’ is illegitimate

KAS Life Blog: Exemption of tax for ‘Spirit’ is illegitimate: The entertainment tax exemption for Malayalam film 'Spirit' is apparently illegitimate. The foremost reason for this illicit act ...

Exemption of tax for ‘Spirit’ is illegitimate

The entertainment tax exemption for Malayalam film 'Spirit' is illegitimate. The foremost reason for this illicit act is: the Forest Minister Ganesh Kumar acts in the film as a channel executive. The Minister who exempted tax for this film is Social Welfare Minister Muneer , who is also the chief executive of a channel. Muneer needs to project that all channel heads are uncorrupt persons like the one enacted by Ganesh Kumar in the film. The director of the film Ranjith is not only a crafty script writer but a lobbyist too. Has one any doubt about this  ask P C Vishnunadh MLA who moved vociferously for the tax exemption.

The film does not create any awareness on any social issue but only teaches people how to drink variety liquor with and without water.  The use of European closet for new drunkards also has been  illustrated in the film. It  is intended to convey the idea to the outside world that all Keralites are drunkards and their way of life is awfully deplorable. The happy get-together similar to that of the male protagonist in the film with his ex-wife and her good husband is seen only in America and  in Kerala!. The male chauvinistic dialogue of lead character to his ex-wife that “ if drunk I would have raped you” is  highly obnoxious and is a direct insult to womanhood. The director owes a public apology for this loathsome dailogue.

Director Ranjith knows the “Gandhi” film does not make any one Gandhi. Like-wise an addict would never become a de-addict by seeing his film. Shivering of body of an addict stops when he gets his daily intake, however in this film the addicted hero stops shivering when hr cuts the  intake. The director has craftily insulted   the caring policy of the government by sub-titling “liquor consumption is injurious to health” all through the length of the film. The veteran film actor Madhu also has been insulted in the film with his hateful role as a voluptuous old goose.

The UDF government has no tangible steps to contain wide-spread liquor consumption. They have only cosmetics treatments like granting tax exemption for a repulsive movie of the sort like “Spirit” while they permit abkaris to open more and more liquor shops.  Minister Muneer and other UDF leaders congratulating the film crew of “Spirit” shows that they are humble human beings incapable of accepting the craftiness of shrewd abkaris and their sponsors like the crew of the film.

The Opposition LDF is also likely to say “Sprit” is a value oriented film because abkaris are dearer to them also. No doubt the drinking habits of people of Kerala would change and they search for variety brands if this film is viewed critically.

Mullappally’s insistence.

I think there is a little bit confusion for Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran when he repeatedly says that he will not backpedal on his charge that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was behind the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. When the Marxist Party whole heartedly supports the Congress candidate P K Mukherji for presidential election, a call from madam at No 10, Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi would definitely disturb Mullappally. And in that case Mullappally couldnot keep that much resolve against Marxists.  Is n't it?

B-team of the Congress

The first and the foremost enemy for CPM in Kerala is Congress,  then it is ironical on the part of them  to extend  support to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential race. The BJP is true in saying that with this move CPM has denigrated into a B team of the Congress in the country.

Pranab is the agent of Capitalism and with CPM voting for him; it has swallowed without water all their abusive words against Sonia Gandhi and her Congress party.  CPM has also proved that its anti-UPA stance was void. The CPI and the RSP are more  judicious in this respect.

Elizabeth Antony Davinci !

Defence Minister A K Antony has never dreamt of such a huge revenue from the paintings of his dear wife and the mother of the two Elizabeth Antony. Elizabeth, hereinafter, will be known as Elizabeth Antony Davinci because her paintings had fetched a hefty sum of Rs 28 crore, unheard in the history of present day art and culture. She, however, has set aside the rumours of this huge amount.  She told her paintings were sold onlyfor a sum Rs. 16 lakhs, that too not a poor income.

Though Antony is in the chair of Defence Minister for quite long his kitty contains only a few hundred Indian rupee silver  coins  and no deposit in Swiss banks. With Elizabeth’s earnings Antony is likely to lose his unique position of being the “poorest” among all Cabinet Ministers.

Best friend is worst foe.

The response of the Treasury bench and Opposition in the Kerala Assembly when the newly elected Neyyattinkara MLA  R  Selvarai  has taken oath office, is entrancing. The Opposition members were seen shouting when he was taking the oath.

Selvaraj did not show any hesitancy in reaching to the opposition side and went with the folded hands to Kodiyeri Balakarishnan and opposition leader V S Achuthanandan who did not even look at him. This means Selvaraj is politically shoddier than Oommen Chandy  for them.  And it also underlines the saying: One’s best friend could be one’s worst enemy.

In the making of ministers!

The Kerala Assembly is creating history with novel incidents. The latest in this direction is Opposition MLA  E P Jayarajan attending the Assembly proceedings with  a stun grenade shell. The Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who is bound to keep law and order in the State is seen virtually scared by the grenade of Jayarajan. And that is why he told  the Speaker: "it would be difficult for the members to sit in the House when a member carried a weapon."

On the way of  taking the CPM in Kerala to the graves all the three Jayarajans are contributing their might. When one is ready with ‘chilly water’ to be poured  on the head of police, another is running a  party court. The third one is EP Jayarajan, who is holding bullet inside his body and a grenade outside. He is in charge of the students wing  of his party and that is why the SFI is seen extremely sportive.   According to Jayarajan the students were holding a peaceful agitation but they were brutally assaulted by the police. No channel viewers of Kerala other than well wishers of CPM would endorse this because the peaceful agitation by the students was on the heads of the police. The students’ leaders are in the making of future ministers and MLAs and the police knows this well.

Opportunity for politicians to save face

The most apt person who deserves to occupy Raisina Hills is former President, the missile man Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who hit India’s wagon of glory to a star. This is not a one-off opinion but the opinion of majority people of India. It is a sorry portrait to see that politicians need their pal to occupy at Rashtrapati  Bahavan.

The Opposition NDA  and the Left should not allow the Congress to elect unopposed their candidate. If so what is fun in saying a creative Opposition. They should field their own candidate or should support Dr Kalam. An atmosphere for open election without party whip should be created and the MPs and MLAs should be asked to vote at their judgment.  Then one could see who would be elected, Dr Kalam or Pranab Mukherji.

At least in one aspect Kalam would not expend abundantly from state exchequer for foreign trips as his family is very small consisting of himself and two suitcases.  The politicians of India losing trustworthiness among common man could sensibly save their face by electing Dr Kalam as next President of India.

Why the Congress and the Left do not like Dr Kalam?

The stage is set  for the presidential election. Pranab Kumar Mukherji is the candidate of the Congress and their allies except Mamta.  The candidature of Dr Kalam is endorsed only by BJP and Trinamool. Now the big questions that need explanation is: Why the Congress party does not like Dr Kalam? Why the Left parties do not endorse him?

The foremost reason is:  Kalam did not allow Sonia to become PM in 2004. Secondly, Pranab Mukherji is the only person who knows well about black money in foreign banks.  If he is appointed President of India, Congress leaders and other party bigwigs having unaccounted money are totally safe for the next five years. On the other hand Dr Kalam is a honest man and does not endorse corrupt politicians.

Let us introspect too the good things(?) the Congress has done to the nation of late. They were busy only in common wealth scam, 2G, coal mine and what else.  Petroleum companies are a source income for many leaders. The UPA are not at all interested in bringing Janlokpal bill. Their interest is in sky-rocketing the price of essential commodities.

Mamta Banerji’s support to Dr Kalam is highly welcome, nevertheless, those who know Mamta would not fully endorse it. The past experience tells if Mamta gets more fund for her state of Bengal from the Central Government she would abandon Kalam and vote for Pranab.

The Congress party is abusing presidential chair by ignoring Dr Kalam. Let us hopethe  Presidential post should not  be auctioned like IPL players by the United  Progressive Alliance.

Shock to LDF

The Neyyatinkara by-poll   result is a placid shock for the LDF. It is Chief Minister Oommen  Chandy’s tactics and not any communal equation, that brought a stunning victory to the UDF.  The Onchium incident is only a catalyst for the phase reversal in Neyyattinkarala.

The communal organizations the NSS and SNDP lost face with the result as they had early criticized the Congress led government for being dominated by minorities and threatened with a result opposite that in Piravom. The mask of the sort, one black and other white with eye holes only,  used by notorious Kodi Suni and Rajeesh can be awarded to both the communal secretaries as the result is far beyond their predictions.

It is notable that the BJP has got a striking margin as Its vote share went from a negligible 6.1percent in 2011 to 23.6 percent in the current poll. And if this trend continues the Kerala Assembly would soon witness the entry of a BJP member.

Hateful ‘Chick King” ad

Blacks are always and they are side-lined and ridiculed everywhere on every occasion. If anyone has any doubt in this regard watch once more, if not disgusted by this time by its repeated watching, the advertisement of “Chick king”, an unhealthy food product from a multinational company. People of all cross-sections from all over the world appear in the ad tasting breathlessly the lump of fried chicken, however, the facial expression of the black man resembles that of a beast that has never seen food.

The ‘Chick king” ad is obnoxious and is a direct insult to the poor and the black.

Vote for Dr Kalam

It is highly welcome to hear that the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress have shortlisted Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as the next President of India. However, their choice of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as President is ridiculous as it is unheard in the history to convert a PM into President. Other names suggested by SP and TC and even by the Congress come only next to Dr Kalam.

Dr Kalam is a honest man, loved and revered by all. He knows science and the constitutional laws. His entire life was for this nation and he will continue his work for the development and care of the nation. If the mandate to elect the president is directly given to common man Dr Kalam would be their choice. All social media and intelligent fraternity tell this.

Kerjriwal, not Ramdev, is correct.

Thanks to God, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has no black money as he has extended support to yoga guru Ramdev in his campaign on the issue of black money. Mulayam said till the black money is brought back, the poor won't benefit. This means Mulayam has only white money and none under his family's rule in UP would get benefited . If more and more political leaders come forward with similar comments they could also abstain from the allegation black money abroad. I mean Mulayam’s bearing is a better way to get away from the accusation of corruption.

Nevertheless, Hazare team member Arvind Kejriwal has no such opinion about Mulayam. Ramdev’s protocol of not mentioning the names corrupt politicians is ridiculous when one talks about black money. Kejriwal is more correct in this context.

Apple launches thinner, more powerful MacBooks

Apple on Monday unveiled a new lineup of Macintosh laptops, including a revamped MacBook Air, the lightest of the computers, and a thinner, more powerful MacBook Pro.

The move keeps Apple, which has been dominating the market for tablet computers like the iPad, in the game against a new line of slimmer laptops using Microsoft Windows or the Google Chrome operating system.

'Today we've updated the entire MacBook line with faster processors, graphics, memory, flash storage and USB 3 connectivity,' said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

'We've made the world's best portable family even better and we think users are going to love the performance advances in both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.'

The MacBook Air is facing new competition from PCs which have slimmed down for extra portability but Apple boasted about the superiority of the MacBook.

'Everyone is trying to copy it, they find it's not so easy,' Schiller said, adding that the new models will see a boost in speed and memory and cost $100 less than previous versions.

The high-performance MacBook Pro will include the so-called retina display used on the new iPads, giving an extra high resolution screen.

'It is simply the best computer Apple has ever made,' Schiller said.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro will be 0.71 inches (1.8 centimeters) thick and weigh 4.46 pounds (2.02 kilos) and include the retina display, described as 'the world's highest resolution notebook display with over five million pixels, three million more than an HD television.

Juvenile prisoners’ dress code.

May be due to the frequent visit of the Prison Advisory Committee comprising of comrade P Jayarajan and others the life in prison has become a happy pastime. The food menu in the prison has been changed from wheat ball (gothambunda) to oiled chapathi and then to delicious chicken dish, mutton curry, dosa, idli, puttu, kadala , chatni and what more. Prisoners are supplied with white uniforms similar to one used by millionaire gold merchant the Chemmannoor jewellery owner.
However, my friend who visited the juvenile home at Mayithara, Cherthala where young prisoners are kept, was not of good opinion. He told me that the juvenile prisoners have no uniform and what they have is the only dress they wear. This is a pathetic condition and hence I suggest Prison Advisory Committee or Assembly Subjects Committee to visit the spot and do the needful to improve the condition of teenager prisoners.

Cosmetic cure for cell phone cancer

May be it with good motive the Kerala Government has issued direction restricting the use of mobile phone by the staff in government offices. Nevertheless it would end up as a skin treatment for the wide spread cancer of indiscriminate use of cell phone.  When the government itself has provided cell phone to its employees for official discharge what is the fun in restricting the same?  The Government direction resembles the one on Khadi use on Saturdays. But none is seen observing this dictate.

It is true that there is an extensive distraction from duty of the staff and it causes utmost inconvenience to the public visiting government offices for various needs. Until a medical survey reveals the use of cell phone would bring incurable cancer and make total impotence because of excessive radiation, the unsystematic use of this device would continue whatever  be the orders or directions the Government Issue.

What we need is the mindset of the employees to switch off the device while in duty.

Unpleasant CPM

Communist Party of India (M) in Kerala is seen quite unpleasant with the investigation of the murder of Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan. The abuses hurled by CPM state secretary Pinrayi Vijayan towards Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan point in this direction. Even when framing charges it is customary to call the opponent with a ‘shri’ nevertheless the CPM secretary botched to add this word when calling Home Minsiter as “Radhakrishna’. This is in resonance with his old gesture of calling Mathrubhumi Chief Editor “edo Goplakrishna”.

I wonder how long this party is going to survive with this sort of forewarning gestures when common people are apprehensive about the dreadful acts of the party of late. The Kerala Police returning empty handed without making any enquiry at Thalassery area committee office of the CPM because of protest from party cadres,  is a disgrace to the police and the Home department. If incapable of doing search in hide outs of criminals never attempt to perform such adventures instead call the central force to do the same. The area inaccessible to State Police within the State is an ignominy to the ruling front.

The CPM launching offensive agitations as a technique to divert the attention from their past and present crimes would invite more people saying good-bye to the party.

Karunanidhi’s currency garland

At least in one respect there is a marked similitude between DMK president M. Karunanidhi  and BSP Supremo Mayawati.  Both of them received currency garlands at their b’ day celebrations. While Mayawati got garland comprising of currency notes of 1000 rupee denominations, Karunaidi garland contained  Rs 50 and 100 denominations., obviously not to attract the attention of the tax collectors.

With 2G spectrum scam, it is alleged that Karunanidhi’s kith and kin has amassed wealth in tune with several crores, then how foolish are the followers of DMK to present garlands of such a drivel amount along with goat and jack fruit.  Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee extending their birthday greetings to Karunanidhi is nothing but politics. Likewise Karunidhi paying homage at the memorials of C.N. Annadurai and  E.V. Ramasamy  ignoring that of  M G Ramachandran is also with political motives.
