While was an MLA in Kerala Prof K V Thomas was a not leader of high standing. Now being the Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplys and a pet of Sonia Gandhi Thomas reads out a lot for Kerala. He decides the food habit of Kerala people and instructs the Kerala Government to take necessary steps to entrust work of the proposed Kochi Metro project to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
DMRC is not the only agency in the world qualified to undertake the works related to Kochi Metro Rails and DMRC ex-chief Sreedharan is not the only technically qualified person to do the job. If a global tender would generate a marginal gain Rs 300 crore for the state then why Thomas insists to hand over the Metro Rail job to DMRC. The present officer Tom Jose IAS in charge of KMRC is an able person and he has the all the potentials to perform the job efficiently.
Thomas’ interest on DMRC team and E Sreedharan should not become a binding force on Oomen Chandy to take appropriate decision on Kochi Merto Rails. Thomas has enough work at Delhi then why bothers to place Sreedharan on the top KMRC? It is unwise not to play second fiddle Thomas when Opposition always see fault with Oommen Chandy Government.
