It is highly interesting to see that a pepper spray device is being distributed in the IT campus at Technopark , Thiruvananthapuram as a self-defence mechanism for women employees who have to travel even during night. The distributors think night travel is safe for women with pepper spray made from chilly and pepper.
As an alternative why can’t the techies consult this matter with Coir Minister G Sudhkaran so that he could easily arrange a coir device for self protection. Though Alappuzha MLA Shukkoor pooh-pooh Sudhakaran for wasting State fund for his coir mela at Alappuzha Sudhakaran claims the Coir Board has received a huge order from abroad for the well-known ‘Coir Bhoovastram”. And if a coir hook like device can be expediently used by women to catch hold of aggressors, it would be a boon to women as well as coir industry.
