Mohanlal enters stock broking market
Sir,
It is stupendous to hear that Malayalam movie star Mohanlal is entering the stock market. He inaugurated his Hedge Equities office in Kochi for stock broking. After his successful venture in film production and distribution, hotels, and curry powder manufacturing, he is entering stock market where any amount can be transacted with in a second. Possibly his next venture will be in politics where the turn out is a bit more. Nevertheless his comment on Malayalees psyche that they are unwilling to become players in the stock market is not very correct.
Malayalees are not rich as their north Indian counterparts. The banks like Punjab National Bank with head quarters in north India are able to swallow almost all banks in south India like the Federal, South Indian and Dhanalekshmi. A single Marwaadi from central India is able upset all the trading of Malayalee business men in the stock market. Besides, the literate Keralites know how to keep safe their hard earned money. Still some of them lost money by investing in goat, manchiyam, and some Kerala companies. Mohanlal himself siphoned out Malayalees’ money with an aqua company under his directorship. Investors in Kerala never wish to memorize those unpleasant stories of disgrace. None other than the hapless investors concerned about the poor show of the aqua companies in Kerala. When the promoters of these companies, including Mohanlal, lead a prosperous life, the unfortunate investors of prawn companies were left in the lurch.
So, Mohanlal’s intention to attract more and more investors from Kerala into the stock market will not work. The common people will manage with Kuries of KSFE like cos. with limited but not uncertain returns. What Keralites expect from Moahanlal is good films and not money by investing in stock market through his broking company.
